Pawit's Royale Thai Cuisine

It's been a while since my last post, but I am going to be honest ... 18 English credits just kick my butt sometimes.  However, this Saturday my wife and I spent the day in Salt Lake and I must report on our dining experience.  I'll have a couple of posts over the next couple days covering each of the delightful dishes we tried.

First, let's start with dinner.  One of my professors--a bit of a Thai connoisseur--said that if I wanted some good Thai I had to try Pawit's Royale Thai Cuisine in southern Salt Lake.  Saturday, I gave it a try.  As soon as I stepped through the door, I knew that I was in for some good grub when I walked nose-first into the wall of unique aroma that just screams "Thai!".  I can't describe it in words, but if you know Thai, you know what I'm talking about--it's that smell that fills each cozily lit Thai restaurant.

The food: delicious.  I went with the Gang Dang, a "medium red curry with coconut milk, zucchini, red and green bell peppers, bamboo shoots, green peas, and Thai basil." (Straight from the menu)  The one thing that I will say about this curry besides the fact that it is fantastic is that it is HOT.  Don't let the word "medium" fool you.  I like my food spicy and even for me this dish had me going back to my water after every other bite.  It was SO good, though.  Like I have said before about Thai food, it is so unique that--like the smell that fills the restaurant--you really can't adequately describe it.  Maybe the most important aspect of the food is the synergy of flavors and textures: it's sweet, spicy, creamy, and crunchy all at the same time.  You've just got to try it... but maybe a milder version if you can't take the heat.
My wife got the Pad Thai, as usual, and she went crazy about it, as usual.  But can you go wrong with Pad Thai?

Maybe the best thing about this place: bang for the buck.  We each only ate half of our meals and both had a tasty leftover lunch to take with us.

You have to try this place.  Click HERE for Pawit's complete menu, location, and contact information.

Seriously, if you think that Asian cuisine has nothing to offer besides Orange Chicken from Panda, you have to try Thai, and Pawit's is one of the best places you can go to give it a shot.

Leave me a comment below with your Pawit's experiences (especially with menu recommendations for future visits) or let me know that special place where you go to get your Thai on.

Cheers!
